kc_text_block\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gururaja KV<\/strong> is a batrachologist (one who studies frogs and toads), working as a faculty and researcher at <em><a href=\"http:\/\/srishtimanipalinstitute.in\/\">Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology<\/a><\/em>, A constituent Unit of <a href=\"https:\/\/manipal.edu\/mu.html\"><em>Manipal Academy of Higher Education<\/em><\/a> (MAHE), Bengaluru, India. He is also an Associate Academic Dean for the Undergraduate Programme, Year 2.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: inherit;\">His research interests are in the field of amphibian acoustics, behaviour, ecology and systematics.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He started <a href=\"https:\/\/frogwatch.indiabiodiversity.org\/\"><em>Frog Watch, India<\/em><\/a>, a citizen science programme under a Creative Commons license. He has described 21 new species of frogs and three novel breeding behaviours in frogs from the Western Ghats. There are over 60 peer-reviewed publications. He was awarded the State Biodiversity Award for Excellence, by the Government of Karnataka in 2016 and the Geospatial Excellence Award for the first-ever app on frogs &#8211; Frog Find developed in 2014.
